Group Therapy
Group 1: Caregiver Support Art-Based Psychotherapy
Caring for someone you love can be deeply meaningful, but it can also bring stress, grief, uncertainty, and significant life changes. This 8-week art-based psychotherapy group offers a supportive space to connect with others while developing practical skills to navigate the challenges of caregiving.
Using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed practice, and a strengths-based perspective, we will explore topics such as adapting to change, managing stress, anticipatory grief, rebuilding relationships, rediscovering identity beyond caregiving, and fostering self-care and resilience.
Each session focuses on a therapeutic theme and creative medium, with the first half dedicated to guided art-making and the second half to reflection, discussion, and psychotherapy. Participants may explore mediums such as watercolour, acrylic painting, clay, oil pastels, contour line drawing, mixed media, fibre art, and creative writing. No artistic experience is required, this group focuses on the therapeutic process, not artistic ability.
